
Members of the spirit sections do not receive free tickets; however, they do have reserved seating at the front of the student sections. These prime seats are saved up to 30 minutes before football games and 15 minutes before basketball and hockey games.
Yes, Gopher Greeters each receive one complimentary student section ticket after working at the football, hockey, and basketball games. Gopher Greeters also have seats saved for them in the spirit sections so they can cheer on the Gophers with the spirit sections.
Yes, while we encourage our Gopher Greeters to be as active as possible, we understand that scheduling can be difficult. Gopher Greeters are expected to work six out of the seven home football games and several basketball and hockey games as assigned throughout those seasons. We will ask for your availability in the Gopher Greeter Application.
We encourage our Gopher Greeters to actively welcome Gopher fans and visitors to campus on game day. Gopher Greeters are expected to be outgoing and openly engage fans in conversation while greeting and providing information. Gopher Greeters should never be simply standing around, instead you will find them handing out promotional items, directing fans, and starting a round of the Minnesota Rouser.
Yes, we hope to continue to expand the program to additional Gopher sports so that we can help support all of our Gopher athletes. As the Spirit Sections for football, hockey, and basketball continue to grow we will explore how we can best help cheer on the Gophers at other sporting events.
You can become a Gopher Greeter by filling out an application (enclosed here). You must be able to attend 6 out of 7 home football games this fall and assist with four to five games of each basketball and hockey this winter.
You can become a part of The Rooter Club by filling out an application (enclosed here). The Rooter Club is limited to 100 students and you must be able to attend 6 out of 7 home games.
Applications will be accepted starting in February of each year. The position is a yearlong program that runs April-April and requires you to be able to attend almost all home Football, Basketball and Hockey games at the U. In addition, interns are expected to enroll in EdPA 3010 in the spring semester of their internship. This course is a 3-credit management and leadership course that is facilitated by Student Unions & Activities. For more information, email sportsmanship@umn.edu.
